Now you can Live And Work In New Zealand on Visitor Visa

From January 27, 2025, New Zealand officially lets you work remotely under its standard Visitor Visa (or NZeTA if you’re from a Visa‑Waiver country), as long as you’re employed by an overseas company or client  .

This isn’t a separate “digital nomad” scheme—it’s built into the Visitor Visa:

Stay: Up to 6 months (multiple-entry) or 9 months (single-entry). Remote Work: Allowed as a secondary activity—your main purpose must still be tourism, visiting family or friends, or personal travel  .

💸 What It Costs

For Indian Passport Holders (Visitor Visa route):

Visa Application Fee: ₹ 22,655 Conservation & Tourism Levy (IVL): NZD 100 (~₹ 5,140) Total ≈ ₹ 27,795

For Visa‑Waiver Nationals (NZeTA route):

NZeTA Application: ~₹ 2,000 IVL included in the fee Total ≈ ₹ 6,000

📋 What You’ll Need

Valid passport Proof of onward travel (e.g., return ticket) Proof of funds: NZD 1,000/month (~₹ 51,400) or NZD 400/month (~₹ 20,560) with prepaid lodging  Completed online form + health/character checks Apply via Immigration New Zealand site — apps take about 2–3.5 weeks

✅ Rules of the ‘Game’

✅ Remote work OK if employer/client is based outside NZ ❌ No working for NZ-based companies or selling in NZ 💼 Tourism or personal travel must remain your primary purpose  🗓️ Study allowed up to 3 months during the stay

🌄 Why It Matters

Tourism boost: Kiwis want remote workers to spend longer—and more—in the country  Economic strategy: Recent recession pushed NZ to open its doors wider  Global nomad appeal: You can explore a wild world while earning a living
